Empowering Manitoba's Performing Arts
Fostering talent and creativity for all ages and cultures in the arts.
Fostering talent and creativity for all ages and cultures in the arts.
Our mission at THE MATAO PERFORMING ARTS FOUNDATION is to sustain, develop, and secure the future of the performing arts. We believe that every artist deserves a platform to shine and a place that supports their dreams. We are a non-profit foundation located in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Bringing people together and empowering Manitoba's community through the arts and delivering educational opportunities, mentorship, support, counselling, guidance, a safe place for practice, performance and community engagement. These efforts will captivate and inspire the current and future artists and audiences across the stage in our community.
Statistics and data prove that when children, youth and early adults are involved in extra activities like the performing arts, it has provided them with many life benefits and a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for adulthood success.
Such as; Positivity with a focused mind, confidence with strength, calmness and concentration, memorization and clarity, verbal communication and public speaking skills, commitment and motivation, routine and structure, presence and engagement, critical thinking and problem solving, trust and teamwork, accountability and truth, inspiration and belief.
With many cutbacks from all levels of government, including within our public schools, performing arts, music and cultural programs are slowly disappearing. This is also the case for many community organizations, public theatres and performing venues across the country. Sadly, this has all created a major decline in participation in extra curricular activities, specifically in the performing arts, due to the increasing cost of participating and financial household burdens.
Every event that our foundation can provide to the public is a win. A win for the artists to be able to share their talents with the public. A win for the community to establish pride, support, inspiration and opportunity. Not to mention the benefits of enjoying live entertainment with family & friends. Without a constant presence in the public, the performing arts will slowly disappear. The arts start in the community and we need to make sure it stays in the community.
With public support, volunteers, community events and fundraising, THE MATAO PERFORMING ARTS FOUNDATION CORPORATION will be able to offer financial support or assistance and free opportunities for the public and for individuals currently in the Arts or for those who want to get into the Arts.
Performing arts can be many things. It could include talents with their voice by speaking or singing. The physical being such as Dance, Acrobatics, Theatre, Magic, Cultural Expression, Puppetry, Hypnosis, Circus and Stand up performances. It also includes Production art, Media art and Visual art.
We value a collaborative and supportive environment. We believe that a diverse set of perspectives, experiences and abilities helps everyone. We support diversity, equality and inclusion of all cultures and beliefs. We are responsive to ideas and opinions from a variety of sources. We encourage imagination and creativity.

Please consider getting involved.
Support comes in many forms. By volunteering, with donors & donations, by sponsoring an event or attending an event. All of this helps accomplish our mission.
